Metallica -- which made a name for itself last decade for vociferously opposing digital music piracy -- has now put its entire catalog on Spotify, the band announced today at a Spotify event in New York City.

Woooooooooah. This news is big, people. The biggest heavy metal band of all time have only gone and launched their own record label called Blackened Recordings. Great name right? That’s what we thought.

Whether becoming in effect an indie band will have any change on Metallica's music remains to be seen.
